Associating Contacts with Companies in HubSpot
Use company name or any other fields to associate your contact records to their related companies
The native HubSpot import tool allows you to automatically associate contacts to their corresponding companies using the contact email address. It's a great option in many cases. But what if not all your contacts have the email address field populated? Or if the contact email address is not matching to the ompany domain name?

In this article, we will walk you through how to import contacts and use company name, or any other field in your contacts data file, to associate contacts with the right companies in your HubSpot database.

1. Prepare the import file

First, let's prepare the CSV spreadsheet file with contacts data. You can have as many fields as you want, but in this example we have used just 3 fields (first name, last name, company name). You can use any spreadsheet software to create the file. Just make sure to save the file in CSV format, when ready.
2. Import New Contacts with Company Association

Now that you have the CSV file ready, let's import this data into HubSpot.

  1. First setup a free Import2 Wizard account
  2. Use "Start New Import" button to initiate new HubSpot Import
  3. On the mappings step, map first name and last name fields to their corresponding fields in HubSpot. You can read more about other HubSpot fields mappings here
  4. To map the associated company, you can use "company name" from your CSV file, and in HubSpot pick the Associated Company field. As a lookup field choose name
  5. Now login into your HubSpot account and check that contacts were created accurately
