Migrate Data from a Legacy CRM
Import new records into HubSpot
In this article, we will walk you through how to import new contacts into your HubSpot database. (You can also follow the same steps to import companies, deals, notes, tasks, calls, emails and meetings.)

Please note: you will need to perform a separate import for each record type. For example, if your file contains both contacts and contact notes, you will first import the contacts, and then import the notes.

1. Prepare the import file

First, you'll prepare the CSV file with your contact data. You can have as many fields as you want, but for the purpose of this example, we will use just 4 fields (first name, last name, email and lead status). You can use any spreadsheet software to create the file - just make sure to save the file in CSV format.

Please note: if you need to map the links to other records (for example, contact/company links) please refer to the specific guide for those mappings.
2. Import New Contacts

Now that you have the CSV file ready, let's import this data into HubSpot.

  1. First setup a free Import2 Wizard account
  2. Use "Start New Import" button to initiate new HubSpot import
  3. On the mappings step, map the first name, last name, email and lead status fields to the corresponding fields in HubSpot. You can read more about other HubSpot fields mappings here
  4. Now login into your HubSpot account and check that the contacts were created accurately
